With heartfelt memories of an amazingly kind, caring and inspirational lady. From our very first meeting Sheila welcomed me into her home and treated me like one of the family, making me feel special and loved. Sheila had a way of making everyone she met feel worthy and cared for, always making time for others. It was a privilege for me to have been so close to such an incredible lady. We had some really fun times and lots of great holidays together. It gives me some comfort that only a day or so before Sheila passed we enjoyed a trip to Exmouth where we watched the World go by, put the World to rights and ate ice creams as we had done many times before. Happiest of memories, Sandra.

To Sarah and Chris and family. I was sorry to hear of the sad loss of Sheila and remember her as being such a wonderful, kind, caring and fun loving lady who, by the way, made the best treacle pie ever. Paul Jacques

Sheila was a wonderful woman, a great ‘doer’ and ‘giver’ who was always so interested in everything around her. She made a huge difference to so many people’s lives and indeed as Chair of Age Concern Exeter back in 1991 appointed me to lead the charity, a position that lasted for 30 years! Sheila was warm and generous and my wife Sarah and I continued to see her right up until her death. Even when at the Lodge and feeling now ‘on the other side of the fence’ as she put it, she was always positive and funny and thinking about others. She was a great lady and we were fortunate to know her.
